So, um, yeah...

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Honestly? It was okay, but a bit lacklustre. Mind you - that tends to be the case with pilots. Hoping subsequent episodes will improve.

Two, not particularly spoilerish, comments.

Firstly - Tahiti? Yeah, right. I'm still saying Life Model Decoy. (In fairness, it's obvious that Tahiti isn't the truth anyway.)

Secondly - that ending with Lola? According to TV Tropes, it's Stark hover tech. Me, my first thought was, "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads." Which actually, would be a really neat line for Coulson to deliver.

As pilots go it was good. I remember both the Buffy and Angel pilots being somewhat lackluster. I'm hoping for the best.

And if you're interested, here's a review by the SHIELD creator, Jim Steranko.

ABC's Agents of SHIELD is definitely not my SHIELD from the the 1960s. But then again, it is 2013.

And I remember when Nick Fury was an old white guy...

I liked it well enough. As much as I like the Marvel movies, I didn't go in with any real expectations. I thought for a pilot it really worked.

I think so too. But that's the nature of pilots. Introduce the characters. Deal with a specific problem.

Characterisation tends to be handled in coarse strokes at this stage.

P.S. Love the icon
