How low can you go?

September 21st, 2014 (04:08 pm)

I feel a contradictory mixture of pride, relief, and indeed slight shame (!) that I've only seen one of the entries (albeit three of the actual films) on this list of the 50 worst films ever made, and those were the three Transformers films, which I only saw thanks to huntingospray (even she drew the line at going to see Age of Extinction...). Mind you, I think we've also got Batman and Robin in our DVD collection (another one of Sarah's) and we've definitely got Battlefield Earth (which I bought out of curiosity a while back because I like the book - shoot me - but I still haven't actually watched it yet...)

Someone Needs A Spanking

I've seen Click, the Transformers movies and Batman & Robin... and damnit I LIKE Transformers and Batman & Robin. Some of the movies on that list look so damn awful that I have this burning need to see them.

I kinda like bad movies. Especially bad sci-fi and horror movies. Even better the ones that don't know they're bad. They're so much FUN!

I actually thought the Transformers films got progressively better. Although I said that to Sarah the other day, and she said she thought they got worse. I loved the bit in Revenge of the Fallen where they smashed up the pyramids... :)

I think the problem with "bad movies" is...twofold, really - one being that what one person thinks is genuinely bad, another person may think is genuinely good, and the other being that it's possible to enjoy something that's bad whilst being fully aware of everything that makes it bad...

(Some day, I'd love to see The Room...)

Nine.

Including a couple that I actually enjoyed.

And no, I'm not saying which ones ;)

Thanks, mostly in part to MST3K, I've seen 19 of those, though the ones I saw on MST3K it was mostly watching the guys riffing on it, so I mercifully didn't see the movie on its own. I've heard of "The Room" and really want to see if it's as bad as I've heard it is. I didn't see the last "Transformers" movie or the last two "Twilight" films.

I saw a clip of "Birdemic" because Rifftrax was doing it and just see a brief clip fully illustrates how hilariously bad it is.

I LOL at the write up of "White Chicks." I've avoided the movie for that very reason. I've also avoided "Norbit", "From Justin to Kelly", "Battlefield Earth", and some others on that list. Somehow I've still never seen "Showgirls" even though I've been curious.

I do have to admit that I like "Click" and "Howard the Duck." I know HTD is a ridiculous monstrosity - I knew that when I was eight - but I still like it.

Stacey
