Been listening to the rather excellent compilation, Ministry of Sound's Electronic '80s - Volume 2 on the drive to and from work lately, and I have to ask, re: Kim Carnes' Bette Davis Eyes...is it me, or is "she's pure as New York snow" a bit of a backhanded compliment at best? Maybe snow in New York is somehow special and different to what we get in Hemel Hempstead or indeed elsewhere in the UK, but in my experience, after being initially crisp and crunchy and clean and white, after about five people have walked on it, it's horrible and brown and sludgy. If I described Sarah like that, she'd have every right to be very miffed indeed.
