The Martians could land in the car park and no-one would care...

February 28th, 2014 (05:35 pm)

I was in the Marlowes, the main shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead, the other day - I'd call it a mall, but a.) that's a horrible Americanism and b.) I doubt it's got aspirations much higher than "shopping centre" and even that's pushing it a bit (seriously, if you've ever seen it you'll know what I mean) and rather randomly, playing over the PA, was this classic piece of early '90s Scottish folk pop rock. Talk about the unlikeliest of places. But it reminded me of how much I used to love this song back in the day:

In other news, have had my "new start" interview for claiming ye olde Jobseeker's Allowance. It was, despite expectations, a fairly painless experience, thanks to the guy interviewing me being a decent bloke. Now, on with a.) job-hunting and b.) housework. Although right now I feel like sleep and/or hibernating for a bit.

Oh, and - new series of Jonathan Creek starts tonight. As long as it's an improvement on the unfocussed mess that was The Clue of the Savant's Thumb (which shouldn't be difficult, and hopefully the one hour episodes will mean David Renwick might get back to being a bit disciplined), I'll be happy. Although I'm missing Sheridan Smith already. Hopefully her absence will be only temporary.
