Goodbye 70s...

This could have been a really great album. If it was all about track selection, it would be - some of the usual suspects for '80s synth/new wave collections, but many, probably most, in some extended/12" mixes I've not heard before.

But...each disc has the tracks sequenced together into one long megamix. Which is entertaining in its own way, and makes for fun listening in the car, but...it means that most of the extended mixes are cut rather short, which kind of misses the point of including them on the CD in the first place, and rather leaves one wanting more. I imagine many people buying a CD set like this will be doing so for the rare and unusual mixes - that seems, certainly, to be the consensus amongst the customer reviews.

Oh well. File under "good, but not great." Meanwhile, I'm off to score copies of the Gotham City & Son of Gotham City mixes of The Communards' Don't Leave Me This Way on eBay...
