Which got me thinking...would a biopic of Charles Babbage be a viable idea? According to Wiki there was a 15 minute short about him a few years back, but I can't help thinking he could probably merit a full-length film. Anybody else agree? (I put it to Sarah last night; she said it would have to include Ada Lovelace as well. I don't think that would be a bad thing in any way.*** Although whether Hollywood would decide to whitewash her out of history is another matter...)
Oh, and yes, I know the userpic is slightly inaccurate. I can't be bothered to redo for the sake of one digit...
* When it comes out on DVD, there needs to be at least one fanvid of it set to music from the Pet Shop Boys Turing-related work, A Man from the Future.
** Interestingly, Cumberbatch was in a TV biopic about Hawking, titled (with all the imagination of a Whitney Houston album) Hawking, back in 2004. Presumably, therefore, Redmayne will be playing Turing in a 2024 biopic about Turing. Which if there's any justice in the world, will be called The Turing Shroud.
*** Although admittedly, my first words were, "who's she?" Yes, I genuinely didn't recognise the name... My immediate thought was to think of the navy programmer who coined the term "debugging", but no, that's Grace Hopper. Suffice it to say, I was suitably chastised. *apologetic*
