I have...

February 16th, 2015 (10:02 pm)

...two burning questions following on from Saturday's Telford-based shenanigans.

Firstly, what exactly is the difference between a llama and an alpaca? Apart from the fact that nobody has ever, to the best of my knowledge, said "llama my suitcase."

(Think about that one...)

Secondly, what is the point of the M6 Toll road?

Meanwhile, today's Quiz hour on BBC2 reminded me of the fact that, thanks to Doctor Who (as opposed to any other source of information) I know the year in which the Battle of Culloden took place. This is not a piece of knowledge which I need to remember often, until a University Challenge question asks when something happened with the clue that it was six years after said Battle.

ETA: I was also quite impressed with myself for managing to dredge the name "Perkin Warbeck" out of the depths of my memory just before the contestants didn't...

Whilst over on Only Connect, I learned that seeing the word "Brentford" in a connecting wall just makes me think, "well, that was a series of books by Robert Rankin...any other weird sci-fi-ish book series in there..?" (There weren't...)

Llamas are about twice the size of alpacas. Also llamas have banana shaped ears and alpacas have shorter pointy ears
Llamas have two coats - a soft inner coat and a coarser outer coat, but alapacas have single fine coat

Some people will say alpacas have quieter temperaments. They're also more of a herd animal than a llama.
