Coupling - Stuck in the Giggle Loop

Ooh, result

You know how phobic I am about making 'phone calls?

Well, I just made one.

Long story short - I'm trying to track down some old friends of mine with the hope of inviting them (albeit at short notice) to our wedding; the mobile number I had for them was dead, emails bouncing, all I knew was that some time after their wedding they'd moved to Scotland but I had no details of their address or anything.

Then, when I was clearing through some old paperwork in readiness for the move, I found the invitation I'd received to their wedding. Didn't have their contact details, but did have Rachel's parents' address, and (after a bounced email to her mother), I looked up their number on bt.com, bit the bullet, and rang up.

Thus taking me right outside my normal comfort zone for the second time this weekend...

Unfortunately - understandably - her dad didn't just give me their number, but he took my name and number and said he'd get them to get in touch with me. Which is good. Also I learned that actually they're unlikely to be able to make it to the wedding, but for the very best of reasons - Rachel is about 7 1/2 months pregnant with their first child! W00t!

I so hope I get to speak to them after all this, but I feel a definite sense of achievement at having made that 'phone call.

Now. Back to tidying and packing. Kitchen's tidied and cleaned. Onto packing up in the lounge.

The move - progress report

Well, I've finally cleared the lounge.

It took about four times longer than I was anticipating.

At this rate, I doubt I'll get everything done this weekend.

Don't get me wrong - I'm definitely moving this weekend, come what may. But it's distinctly possible that some of my possessions may end up staying in (what-is-currently) my bedroom to be sorted and packed at a later date.

Less than ideal, but sometimes that's the way it goes.

Anyway, on with the downstairs hallway and the lobby. They should be fairly quick and straightforward.

*crosses fingers*

Part 2

Well, the lobby and the hallway took about an hour. Sheesh. Still, progress made there. Now to do the stairs, and then what is laughingly called the spare bedroom...

More progress

Another hour to do the stairs and the spare bedroom. Longer than I was anticipating - and the spare room's still not quite finished, but it's mostly done.

Now, though, time for a belated shower, then to pack the car and head over to Sarah's. The end really is in sight...
