Coupling - Stuck in the Giggle Loop

What I've been up to lately

  • 14:56 @rhaegal I'm not watching either, but generally yes, political slash > football. #
  • 14:58 @MitchBenn deliberate homage or coincidence? Either way, I'd like to hear this for myself... #
  • 18:38 Here at chez mum-in-law's we now have a shower. Hopefully fully functional. #
  • 18:40 Cooker and dishwasher still not wired up, though - workmen left early to watch football. Blasted football. I'll be glad when it's over... #

Coupling - Stuck in the Giggle Loop

Thursday 24th June 2010

Breakfast this morning saw me finishing off the bread, cheese and tomatoes I'd had for dinner last night, although by now the salad cream that was still on the plate and congealed and the cheese had started to go a bit solid so it was even less pleasant than when I didn't have an appetite. Hmmph.

Unfortunately, the journey both to and from work was really rubbish today - as well as the usual roadworks, which drag out what should be a 50 minute journey to an hour, there was also some far heavier than usual traffic around Toddington services, which added at least an extra 15 minutes or so to the journey. Which was particularly annoying as I'd deliberately set off early this morning in the hope of making it to work early! Ah well. Still, it was a relief to hear the radio travel news report that it was unusually heavy traffic - rather than, say, if the previous couple of days had been unusually light and this was normal...

Anyhow, by the end of the day, I'd received a swipe ID card (which rather annoyingly gives my job title as "Support Analyst", but I can't be bothered making a fuss given how difficult it's been getting it in the first place), a 'phone (emailed John and within a couple of hours Malcolm, the local IT guy, was over at my desk fitting the 'phone in place), and my data from Chelmsford. *yay*!!! Even so, I nevertheless spent the day doing "Area Covered" work, which is my usual filling-in-time stuff for when I can't think of anything else to do.

Yesterday I'd brought mackerel into work but didn't get round to eating it. Unfortunately, despite being in a fairly tightly packed container, some of the oil had leaked into my bag today, which was a bit of an annoyance. Anyway, I ate that for lunch today!

Stopped at the Shell garage near work on the way home to put a tenner's worth of fuel into the car (couldn't really afford any more). Fortunately, the deposit cheque had cleared in Sarah's account so she was able to give me some cash - but not much, as most of it had just written off her overdraft excess rather than giving her any substantial amount of money to play with. Still, she was able to give me £50:00 back, and also picked up some shopping for me at Budgen's.

This evening, I had mackerel again - this time grilled, and with some potatoes and peas (the cooker's working! Yay! We're practically back to a normal house!) and lashings of salad cream. My favourite.

And then I asked Rita to record Mock the Week and headed for bed.

Melts

Right now the temperature is far-too-hot degrees (I've no idea what that works out to in either Celsius or Fahremheit, but it's Gas Mark ridiculous), and when Sarah and/or I get paid I think a fan has to be a serious consideration.

On the bright side, work at Milton Keynes is going well, now I've finally got a swipe pass, a 'phone, and my data properly transferred from Chelmsford...
