The Bridge

We Are Detective

I like detective dramas.

I don't watch them indiscriminately, but give me an episode of Inspector Morse, Lewis or Endeavour, and I'm a happy bunny. See also my newfound love of Scandi-drama - I adore The Bridge, and The Killing is on my "to watch" pile.

For some reason, though - and even before its "oh dear, one of our producers is a bit racist" revelation a few years ago - I've always considered Midsomer Murders a bit of a guilty pleasure. I don't know why, particularly - well, I don't know why the "guilty" part, I don't really have to justify finding TV programmes that were meant to entertain people entertaining, to myself or anyone else! But yes. It's quite nice to watch a few episodes on ITV Player...I'm currently watching the The Killings of Copenhagen Danish crossover episode, which co-stars one of the regulars from Borgen (Birgitte Hjort Sørensen).

Mind you, I miss Jason Hughes...

What are the benefits?

Okay, Jobseeker's Allowance claim form filled in online. Now to wait to be contacted for an actual physical appointment.

In the meantime - off to pick up a package from the sorting office, and then register with at least one employment agency.

And to buy this, because quite frankly I'm sick of not having an actual watch on my wrist. (I did have one. It's gone missing. If I buy a replacement, I'll suddenly find it, that's how it goes, isn't it..?!)
Lord of the Rings - Gollum 1

Tolkein is Hobbit-forming...

This arrived today:

(Well, that's a slight lie - it arrived on Friday but we were out; I've only just got round to heading to the sorting office to pick it up.)

Anyway, yeah...excited!!! Don't know when I'll manage to listen to all of it (assuming an hour per disc, and I suspect it might be more than that - there's no running time listed, either overall or per individual disc - then that's, well, 56 hours...maths genius here...), but even so...

Write proper like wot I duz

It wouldn't be a good idea, but I'm sorely tempted, on the CV I'll be honing tonight, to say that I have "excellant punctuation, grammar and written communication skills" and see how long it takes for someone to notice...

The person behind me on the bus has a pizza (Papa Johns, I think) that smells simply delish and is giving me tempting ideas...)
