Thanks for the hugs and well wishes after my post on Saturday evening, by the way.
Went out for my second on the road driving lesson on Saturday (i.e. as opposed to in the simulator) and it's going well. Still stalling the beast a few times, but Sarah says this is nothing to be ashamed of, and indeed the instructor said it's something that all newbies do. (Not that he actually used the word "newbie".)
Spent most of the rest of Saturday, and Sunday morning, vegetating in front of the TV watching old Doctor Who eps (got through Time-Flight and Arc of Infinity and realised they're not as bad as all that), and also playing some Guitar Hero III, which was fun on Easy mode, but less fun on modes above that because my co-ordination isn't all that.
Sarah came down yesterday afternoon and we went briefly into town where she bought me a new mobile 'phone handset (which is good, as it means I can now talk to people) and we enquired in Boots (the opticians branch thereof) about an eye test. They couldn't fit me in today, but I've got an appointment for next Saturday.
Discovered the wonders of bluetooth, for which both my 'phone and my iMac are happily enabled.
In the evening we went into Brentwood to the Toby Carvery for a pleasant dinner, but by the time we got back to my place I was knackered and headed straight to bed.
Things could be better, but they could be a heckuva lot worse.
