Well, I just made one.
Long story short - I'm trying to track down some old friends of mine with the hope of inviting them (albeit at short notice) to our wedding; the mobile number I had for them was dead, emails bouncing, all I knew was that some time after their wedding they'd moved to Scotland but I had no details of their address or anything.
Then, when I was clearing through some old paperwork in readiness for the move, I found the invitation I'd received to their wedding. Didn't have their contact details, but did have Rachel's parents' address, and (after a bounced email to her mother), I looked up their number on bt.com, bit the bullet, and rang up.
Thus taking me right outside my normal comfort zone for the second time this weekend...
Unfortunately - understandably - her dad didn't just give me their number, but he took my name and number and said he'd get them to get in touch with me. Which is good. Also I learned that actually they're unlikely to be able to make it to the wedding, but for the very best of reasons - Rachel is about 7 1/2 months pregnant with their first child! W00t!
I so hope I get to speak to them after all this, but I feel a definite sense of achievement at having made that 'phone call.
Now. Back to tidying and packing. Kitchen's tidied and cleaned. Onto packing up in the lounge.
