Writer's Block: Brush with stardom

Have you ever stumbled across a celebrity in your daily life? Was it more or less exciting than you would have expected? Do you have any interest in meeting media stars?

As opposed to stage-dooring after gigs and shows and going to signings and conventions and that sort of thing, I've had no particularly noteworthy stumblings that I can think of. The one example I can remember involved sitting opposited Lionel Blair on a train. I know, there's probably a Humphrey Littleton/ISIHAC joke in there somewhere. Oh, and I once sat near Neil Tennant on the tube. Bearing in mind I was quite a big fan of the PSBs at the time (moreso than I am now) it was a shame, really, that I don't overcome my chronic shyness and just go up to him and engage him in conversation. I guess, to a certain extent, I kind of think that if it's after a show or something, it's okay to go up to them and talk to them, whereas if they're just going about their daily lives it wouldn't really be right for me to interrupt them, or anything. So yes, the interest in meeting them is definitely there, but only in the right situation.
