Writer's Block: Dinner's on me

If you had to serve a meal to an ambassador from another country that symbolized your country's culture, what would you choose? Do you think s/he would love it as much as you do?

I so want to say Ferrero Rocher, but...in all honesty, I know it's a cliché, but I think I'd go with fish and chips. Proper, decently cooked, battered, moist, tasty, succulent cod, decently crispy chips, lashings of vinegar and a soupcon of tomato ketchup. Can't beat it. If that doesn't impress the ambassador, he's got no soul. And as I'm insisting on it being cod, he's got no sole either...

If something a bit more classy were called for, I might go for a proper Sunday roast - chicken, preferably, with roast spuds, peas, and lashings of gravy. But I think fish & chips is a bit more quintessentially British.
