This is all SFX's fault...
When I first read about this I had to keep asking myself if it was maybe April 1st already and I'd just not realised it, but no, apparently Russell Brand is going to star as Fred Mumford in a film adaptation of Rentaghost.
(As SFX pointed out, he'd probably make a better Timothy Claypole, but even so, it's still wrong on a number of levels.)
Those of you who are too young to remember Rentaghost may find further enlightenment here. Note the "Rentaghost was meant to be a comedy..."
