I don't actually know.
I mean, I absolutely hate smoking, can't stand the smell, hate the fact that by the time I get to work most of the free parking spots mean that the designate smoking area is between me and the front door. And there's also the fact that cigrette smoke plays havoc with Sarah's asthma. But on the other hand, I sort of believe that people should have freedom of choice. Admittedly, it's basically freedom to choose to kill yourself (and can the labelling on cigarette packs be any clearer?), but...I don't know. What I do very definitely think is that people who smoke should be more considerate - I mean, I hate those moments where I'm sitting down somewhere, say waiting for a bus, and someone sits down beside me and lights up a fag without even asking - I mean, would it hurt them to ask, "would you mind?"??? And I'm glad that smoking in pubs and restaurants has been banned...
I guess really, thinking about it, banning smoking in public places would generally be a good thing - anyone who *really* wants to smoke can do so at home.
So yeah, that's my answer. Yes.
Took me a while to convince myself of that, though..!
